Redwoods. The clear area at the base is what happens with redwood litter -- it's highly acidic, so nothing but another redwood can grow there; a major tree dies off and a ring of smaller trees grows around the area it used to stand. This is a young redwood -- I think it's the Aptos blue variety, but you can't really tell from the photo

The laundry drying rack is on the right, Ginny used to prefer air-drying laundry whenever possible
This may be the "Commie Shed." When they bought the property, one of its features was a shed used during the 1950's to conduct surveillance on a communist cell nearby. They used it for garden implement storage.
