A lot of people don't grok Whois and don't realize what information is there. A lot also don't realize that Whois cloaking won't protect your identity from anybody but a casual reviewer -- anybody with a subpoena or any legitimate agency with a security or spam-related issue can get the information from any but a rogue registrar.

It's astounding how many people don't grok that everything they post on Facebook, YouTube etc. is globally public. "Gosh, I meant only my friends to see that, not my boss, parents, admission dean, courts..."

By "these types" I meant a combination of those who blithely post copyrighted material, and those who do it while plastering their site with "Blessed Be" and "Goddess" sort of things. I guess they oppose the idea of individual property...
