If I ever write a phrase like "he is browbeating their inner self", I hope my friends will stage an intervention and confiscate all my healing crystals and 12-step DVDs.

I can't remember who said this wonderfully acid assessment (Dreiser? Someone of that era), but it has resonated at many points in my intellectual interactions: "'Whom are you?' he asked, for he had been to night school."

And not quite on point but in the same Dewey classification (Geo will get this one as a former Sacramento kid): "Thanks to the Western Truck Driving School of Computer Repair, yesterday I could not spell 'teknishun' and today I are one!"

From the article you linked to: “all of which can be viewed by children at most public schools, where students are encouraged to use Wikipedia as a source encyclopedia.”
I now know why my daughter-in-law who teaches Jr. High tells students that if they use Wiki as a source they will be marked as failed. I did not know other teachers tell the students to use it. She tells them not to consider anything on it as valid.
