Ooh, ooh, I want to be the first to use the phrase "Counterpoint the surrealism of the underlying metaphor"...

I have dibs on "...intuitively obvious to even the most casual observer..."!

Re: Jo Walton reviews Starman Jones for Tor
Well, yes -- been reviewing Heinlein at Troynovant since 2001. "Jonathan Hoag" most recently. Plenty more to go, though. I'm really sorry to see reviews such as of Starman Jones cited above, which manages to spoil the major plot turns for potential readers of that fine novel, without providing a more-or-less insightful analysis which would justify such disclosures. I don't know what audience she thought she was writing for. At Troynovant we generally write reviews that recommend, and if there is discussion of plot spoilers, those reviews or essays are so labeled. Incidentally, Heinlein knew what a "Tomahawk" was, and at least in my copies of Starman Jones, knew how to spell it.

http://blogcritics.org/books/article/co ... a-strange/Has a (glowing) review posted today about Stranger. Why all the interest all of a sudden? Is this something you guys are doing? Is it the birthday coming up?

Re: Jo Walton reviews Starman Jones for Tor
Seems fairly typically confused about what the book is about, as well as about literary fasion and history. However -- I dont think it's anything special popping up now; Stranger has had a concerned reader base for all this time, they just get swamped by fads from time to time. This book keeps selling out every new edition, which means something more than 10,000 copies per issue (the minimum I figure necessary to justify keeping it in print, given publishing economics). Somebody is buying those new copies, and they pop up from time to time. I think it's just coincidence.
