Planning a film of Moon is a Harsh Mistress? NO. They'll kark it up so badly. You know they will. And it would make a GREAT film, but Hollywood won't.

Maybe Zack Snyder will cast his glance Heinleinward for one of his next films. He's a meticulous director of difficult material and right now is riding a wave of largesse akin to Cameron's, post-Titanic. If he announced a film of MIAHM or even Stranger, I'd buy tickets now.

Peter Jackson could pull it off, too.

A film project produced by David Heyman with a screenplay by David Roberts (definitely not this Jupiter 9 company) was announced some years ago.

I recall meeting someone at the Heinlein Centennial who was working on it.

Some brief accounts derived from Variety and Hollywood Reporter are floating around the Web.

David Heyman is one of the producers of 2013's Gravity. I wonder whether his HSS,WT project morphed into this movie, in which the characters spend a great deal of screen-time in space suits...

Gravity also has the rather direct Heinleinian steal of using a fire extinguisher as a propulsion unit. I love beyond reason the moment when Ryan flings the empty extinguisher away for one last bit of delta-vee.
