Post Re: Introduce Yourself
Hello, Heinlein Society!

By way of a quick introduction (I have been known to go on and on), I just wanted to say howdy. My name is Andrew, although my friends call me Chucky so by all means, feel free to call me Chucky.

I encountered the Society for the first time at Worldcon 75 in Helsinki, having come very late to the wider science fiction community. Having chatted with the members present, I got myself a membership as soon as possible.

I have been reading and writing science fiction since I learned to read and write, but was never part of what you might call a supportive or nurturing environment. Still, in the world inside my own head, I was never alone. Only now, as my 40th birthday approaches, have I begun to find people of the same worldview. People who look up at the stars and still think there's a chance we might go there, instead of dying here, in the mud, with our hands around each other's throats.

I did warn you that I go on and on.

It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Thank you all for existing.

- Chucky

Likewise.

You're welcome? But I can't, in good conscience, take credit for existing. It was none of my doing.

Welcome, Chucky! Sadly, the current message traffic here is low, but there are hours of fun in store for you poring through the archives.

Warmest personal regards,

Dan

Solipsism is only to be expected here, though.
