I read an interesting comparison yesterday.
Of course, you know that GWB removed food and fuel from the inflation index.
By his count, inflation is 4 %.
By the count used during the Clinton years, inflation is currently 8%; and by the measures used by Reagan, inflation is currently 11%.
Remember, also, that "unemployment" does not count anyone whose unemployment *payments* have expired, whether or not they are looking for work. The real unemployment rate is a lot closer to 9% than it is to less-than-5&.
When your data is intentionally misleading, it's hard to do much about a problem. It's been all lies from Jr. for 7 plus years. Yes, inflation is getting a lot worse -- and food and fuel lead the spiral upward. The drive to make ethanol instead of methanol is aggravating both factors.

It's not the production of ethanol, precisely, it's the use of corn - and corn grown on formerly food-producing land - to produce ethanol that is a staggeringly idiotic move. Let us not even speak of the government subsidies to do so.
I think that the ethanol follies will be mentioned in the same breath with Teapot Dome by future generations - assuming (viz: ACC) there are any.
