Post ID a short story... Bradbury?
This one is totally eluding me, and hasn't garnered any answers on the sites I've tried. I don't hang on any general sf sites or forums any more.

Short story, almost sure it's Bradbury. (Googling Bradbury+television brings up a thousand references to "The
Pedestrian," which isn't the one I'm looking for.)

A miner comes into town after several months at his dig, to find that television as we know it has been wiped out by some kind of cosmic-ray effect; it just doesn't work any more. It's forcing people to actually talk and sit on their front porches in the evening and other awful things; it's dangerous to even mention TV or anything that was on it.

ID?

"Almost the End of the World" ?

Quote:
Two miners arise from the subterranean darkness into sunlight in “Almost the End of the World” (1957). They discover that solar emissions have turned off television and turned on people. Instead of watching, people do. They jam on instruments, hold neighborhood beer bashes, go bowling. People talk to one another rather than absorb the idiot box’s monologue. The town barber, unaware that he has never had it so good, tells the miners that screens going blank “was like a good friend who talks to you in your front room and suddenly shuts up and lies there, pale, and you know he’s dead and you begin to turn cold yourself.”

Bingo. Thank you. Have one on me.

I have no idea why this story was so damned difficult to locate, other than that it's overshadowed by "The Pedestrian."
