Post Article in Reason Magazine
How many of you have read this article by Brian Doherty in the August/September 2007 edition of the libertarian Reason Magazine? It's entitled "Robert Heinlein at 100" and, although it understandably emphasizes Heinlein's libertarian principles, I think it presents a very compelling case for the immense impact of Mr. Heinlein on many aspects of our society. I rather suspect Bill Patterson and Jim Gifford have read it, for reasons obvious in the text, but I encourage others to do so and give their impressions.

Post Re: Article in Reason Magazine
Quote:
Heinlein once told a visitor, "I'm so much a libertarian that I have no use for the whole libertarian movement."

If I had seen this quote I might have left the party years earlier.... When I was the archivist for the national party organization, back in the 1980's, I saw the returns from a survey that indicated that -- I wish I could remember the exact figures -- at least a third of the responding members came to the philosophy via the writings of Heinlein. Me too. Heinlein sold me on the philosophy, the party cured me of politics.
I think the article is very much worth reading and would make for a lively discussion here. Hope you all take a look at it.
