Post subject:  Hollywood Auction

An agency called Profiles in History (they specialize in things like autographed material) holds an auction of Hollywood props and memorabilia about twice a year. Some really amazing things turn up.

This time, the online auction set for April 30 and May 1 contains the cream of Forrest Ackerman's collection. There are many things, from the replica Maria costume down to collections of, well, junk. Some very nice stuff for those who know the era and/or knew 4E and/or perhaps visited the Ackermansion.

One Heinlein item is also up - a copy of the Destination Moon space suit, used for theater promotions.

Me, I'll take the Frankenstein 1-sheet, one of six known, and one of the best. It's listed for ca. $250k.

Or the Blade Runner working hero gun - the beauty hero went a few years ago; this is the functional one, built around a .22. The beauty prop was the one you saw in any closeup; this one is the only one made that fired, so any shot with a shot is of this item. $100k, I think.

There's lesser stuff, too, down to a few hundred for some very interesting items - I almost scored Jack Benny's money clip and a screen-used square Blade Runner glass last time.
