Post How Strong Was RAH at Chess?
Previously I posted on chess Grandmaster Dr. John Nunn's article on "--All You Zombies--" here:

I was wondering if anyone has any informatrion from his papers/letters or other sources on just how good Heinlein was as a chess player. In the biography it says that Dr. Lyle taught him to play at age four, which often means one goes on to be quite strong, but that's the only clue I have. Some web searching reveals nothing concrete. The photo in the bio shows his h pawn thrust forward like he's an attacking player but of course, RAH is the one who explicitly taught me not to generalize from one datum! :)

"There comes a time in the life of every human when he or she must decide to risk 'his life, his fortune, and his sacred honor' on an outcome dubious. Those who fail the challenge are merely overgrown children, can never be anything else."
