I am a Centennial Attendee.

How does that get entered ?

Also.....I have a HUGE number of pics from the Centennial, Conferences in Denver, Montreal, etc.
Where is a good place to have them seen.

I think the forum admins assign the status. We used to have a wiki where you could upload pictures. I'm not sure now. We should definitely have a place to preserve those. Something less evanescent than Facebook.

I suggested to the new management that it may be time to retire and/or rearrange the ranks a bit. We may be past the point where it means much that users here were at, or even organized the Centennial.

A THS membership rank, and perhaps some kind of "old guard" rank for those of us who have been around a long time, might be more relevant.

I have responded to this request and have assigned him the Centennial rank.

I also have requested a new directory on the website called Gallery where I can create any number of picture galleries and have requested* him to send the pictures to me so that I can upload them all when I get the gallery.

*This was a private message to him, so he may not have seen it yet.

I hadn't realized that these were "ranks" rather than descriptions. Should I be saluting?

If we're going to be ranking participants around here, perhaps it should be by how many of "change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly" each is able to perform. A simple checklist form should be able to establish a number for each correspondent.

Awesome idea--I would only change it to "has performed." Everyone thinks they are capable of dying gallantly, but how many of our Forum Friends can in good conscience check that off?

Also, I know theoretically just how to set a bone, but that actual "stick your foot in the armpit and pull hard" is, like so many other things, easier in the reading than the doing!

I would add--I do have a lot of respect for the Pattersons, Giffords, Rules, Higgins's and the rest who have been serious in studying and/or writing about RAH for many years. I really only got into it about a year ago after learning of the biography, despite 40 years of serious reading and thinking about RAH and his work. I think you all deserve some distinguishing mark. Perhaps a halo on your profile pic is in order.

From recent experience, changing a diaper and pitching manure can be checked off simultaneously.

Before this spins too far, note that "rank" is just the forumware's term for special user assignments. When it's done by number of posts, it does, I guess, denote something rank-ish. The special titles, though, are just that, but lumped under the same feature.

No need to tie them to any actual hierarchy, just annotations for select groups.

Too true! Last time I had to set a broken femur it was *totally* ineffectual!
