Thanks. It's somewhat irritating to me that my publilsher won't tell me these things after multiple requests so that I can arrange a possible publicity date (Comic-Con)

Can't sell copies if people have no idea it is coming out. It seems more and more companies just assume they will make X amount, or, they do not really care how well product sells.

Will there be any changes from the HB edition, other than typos and possible corrections of errors that were noted on the Nexus Forum last year?

Yes, quite a number of changes in addition to correction of typos. I keep updating the errors list on the "Errors and Omissions" tab on my author site (http://www.whpattersonjr.com), and I think it's up to the 5th revision now. There are a few that didn't make it in, but generally speaking the whole lot up to the 5th revision was incorporated into the trade paper edition.

Surprisingly the one correction that required the most effort was clearing up the confusion between the Okinawa and Iwo Jima campaigns (I think that is p. 342). The "fix" was to delete three lines of text at the end of the paragraph. But as I had added two lines earlier (photo credit for the Raising of the Flag on Iwo Jima), and that addition had been done and page layout changed to accommodate it, in order to prevent "reflow" (changing the page layout again) I had to write as much new material as I took out -- 35 words.

Incidentally, the latest blog entry there is about the process of editorially correcting and revising volume 2 -- it's virtually the same effort as expended in the original composition of the draft, back in 2005 and 2006.

Here's an interesting question to pass on to your publishing house...will the corrected "paperback" version be fed out (updated) to those who purchased via Kindle? I confess that I bought both a hardback version for my library, and a kindle version for reading at the various queues I end up sitting in semi-frequently.

I've got not clue as to what policy Amazon has with this kind of thing, although I'm aware that in at least 2 instances, they've updated text on books that I've had downloaded.

Here is the Amazon listing of the paperback.

http://www.amazon.com/Robert-Heinlein-1907-1949-Learning-Curve/dp/0765319624/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1300815449&sr=1-4

It was not linked from the hardcover and if you look you will see that they list the years 1907-1949 instead of 1948.
It probably is an error on Amazon's part, the cover they show lists the correct dates of 1907-1948.

I'll pass on the query, but I don't hold out hope for an answer.

As expected...they probably don't have a policy about that, but perhaps your effort in asking will help nudge them to the correct position.

Thanks, Bill!
