Footnote 6 to Chap 6 is "RAH, letter to Stephen King, 08/08/84." The referenced quote is about his first practice cruise and getting very cold off the coast of Maine.

The horror writer Stephen King is from Maine -- was he the addressee of RAH's letter? What was the nature of their correspondence?

Heinlein wrote King to thank him for the jacket blurb on Job, and there was some collegial chit-chat, including: "In fantasy, horror, and science fiction the most difficult trick, sine qua non, is to accomplish total belief in the reader during the reading. I think that the opening scenes in Firestarter are casebook examples of how to do this . . . [sic] and about as easy to duplicate as it would be to duplicate some of the performances of our Olympic gymnasts
this week past. I have studied your opening and will continue to study it. (One of the pleasures of this profession is that there is always something new and interesting to learn.)"
