Post Update on Volume II Publication
Bill announced on his blog back on June 10:
Quote:
On Friday I received word from my agent, Eleanor Wood, that David Hartwell has formally accepted the re-recut manuscript for volume 2 of the Heinlein Biography. My title for volume 2 is “The Man Who Learned Better.” No idea whether this will survive Macmillan’s sales department.

Now begins the publication process — legal review, copyedit, picture selection, galley proofs.

So I guess we can expect to see it sometime in 2014. Regarding the title, I enjoy speculating that it refers (on one level) to changes in Heinlein's political and economic views in the second half of his life. Of course many have claimed that this was due to Ginny's "conservatism" or some such. That's a gross oversimplification, but maybe there's a bit of truth there.

I have come to think that that attitude of the USSR post-WW II, and the Heinlein's "Tramp Royale" trip had a lot to do with RAH's loss of faith in "World Government."

Indeed. I've never preordered a book in my life, but I'm tempted this time.

Make that overwhelmingly tempted for me ;) . I think I see an Xmas present to myself this year. [Assuming that 6/1/14 release date holds firm.]
