Ten years, folks.

I have good memories of the Centennial conference. I met some great people there, renewed some old friendships, and got my start on Heinlein-historical research as well.

And being a part of this online community has been enjoyable.

Thanks again to all you whose efforts made this possible.

Happy 110th, Mr. Heinlein.

Happy 105th, Dr. Cornog.

What will the next decade bring?

Thanks to all for a wonderful Conference 10 years ago! To this day, it remains the only sci-fi con I have ever attended, though I'm not proud of that, and very much wish I had attended the ones where The Grandmaster spoke. Ah, well.

Ten years ago:
  • There had been no financial or housing crisis;
  • The iPhone was in its first week of shipping;
  • We had not had a black president, much less an orange one;
  • Facebook was a small service competing with MySpace;
  • We thought the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were nearly over;
  • Self-driving cars were a hundred years away;
  • SpaceX was small enough that we didn't feel that bad at not being able to get them to the Centennial;
  • Arthur C. Clarke was alive.

I've just posted a few words and pictures to Twitter (in which realm my sobriquet is MrBeamJockey) to commemorate the Centennial conference.

Well, beamjockey, PNH did not get his butt out here for the Centennial, but his wife and I had correspondence where she told me that the echoes reached New York about the success of our efforts. Teresa is a wonderful human being.

Meanwhile -- ten years. How did that happen?
