I think that the bottom line is that I wanted one thing of the Centennial: I wanted it to be a fitting tribute to the life and work of Robert Heinlein...and I think all of us in the B and C cells shared that goal.

I honestly think we achieved that.

People who were not completely familiar with his works were going to miss things. The Centennial was built in part to carry echoes of personal experience to the people who attended.

In 1975, Robert Heinlein was the Guest of Honor at the World Science Fiction Convention in Kansas City. The first time I heard "The Green Hills of Earth" Ann Passavoy played and sang it for him at the end of the Masquerade intermission. The Centennial, being more science oriented, was pleased to have Jordin Kare, a physicist and music participant, sing the same song almost as a coda to the original performance I heard -- I and many other Kansas City attendees. And a large number of people spontaneously joined him, because of all Heinlein songs, people who read all his work know that one.

So, gosh, you don't think we screwed up because we didn't run supertitles on it?

Not Bad. Just Boggled. Or, as the bumper sticker put it so well, "I used to be disgusted but now I'm just amused."
